Drama Booster President

a message from Kate Gutierrez

We made it happen! A heartfelt thank you to all who contributed to the resounding success of 2023-24 for the WHSTC. Let's celebrate the remarkable achievements of the WHS Drama Boosters:

  1. We surpassed our fundraising target with flying colors, thanks to the generous support of our community! Through patron gifts, concessions, T-shirt sales, company matches, and corporate sponsorships, we aimed to raise $15,950. However, by the end of April, we reached an outstanding $25,335! A massive thank you to everyone who contributed Your support has been truly incredible!

  2. We love all our students, actors, techies, as well the pit who joins us during our musicals During the 2023-24 season, we supported a total of 250 students (a new high for us!) 50 participated in Sleepy Hollow, 115 participated in Urinetown, and 85 participated in Twelfth Night!

  3. We were able to purchase fantastic new lights for use by our techies backstage.

  4. We paid for an intimacy and boundaries coach to run a workshop with the students. Boosters has formed a Safety committee and will continue to budget for this training to be offered annually.

  5. We were able to nominally compensate our amazing production team for the many hours that they put into being there for our students and making sure the productions are of the highest caliber.

  6. We used much of the money raised through concessions to underwrite a portion of the cost for participation in the State Thespian Festival. Costs for attending State were supposed to rise from a per student price of $150 to over $250, but Boosters were able to keep the cost at the same price to families as last year. This made it possible for us to send 40 students to State again this year.

  7. We sent 30 students to the performance of Hadestown at the Paramount in November and 40 students to Beetlejuice in April. This is the first year we have been able to make this happen through the Boosters.

  8. We provided food to all production members during tech week for all 3 of our amazing shows. This is a small line item but hugely important as students have actually cheered when Booster brought in the snacks and food.

  9. We provided lobby, candygram, concessions, and box office volunteers for all of the nights of all of the shows.

  10. We decorated the lobby for all three shows. The students were so happy to have visual decorations outside of the theater as the lobby reflected the hard work they were putting into the productions.

  11. We gifted each student involved in the productions with a show pin that is exclusive to each show. These pins are a way for the students to keep track of what shows they have been a part of and show the pride they take in their accomplishments.

  12. We sent Boosters to Improv events to support our young (only 2 years old) improv team. (Come support 9 Circles Improv at Woodinville Pride on June 8th if you have the chance)

  13. We re-established the tradition of having the Senior Centers send some of their residents to our productions. Thank you to Creekside and Brittany Park.

  14. Boosters hosted a groovy tie dye party where students created show shirts for 12th Night.
